Ray McGovern, distinguished CIA analyst for 27 years, will discuss information regarding impeachable offenses by President George Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney at an event entitled Why Impeach Now? Our Constitution in Crisis. The event will be held on Monday, October 8 in the Howland Cultural Center, 477 Main Street, Beacon at 7pm.

Ray McGovern's career as a CIA analyst began with President John F. Kennedy's administration and continued through to George H. W. Bush's. During the Reagan Administration, McGovern was in charge of preparing the daily security briefs for the President, Vice- President, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Cabinet officers and National Security Advisor. For President George H.W. Bush, he was one of the senior analysts who prepared the President's Daily Briefs. At his retirement ceremony, McGovern received the Intelligence Commendation Medallion and a letter of appreciation from then-President George H. W. Bush.

His breadth and depth of experience, as well as his intelligence, humor and humble manner both enthralled and enlightened that audience." Garrison resident Margaret Yonco-Haines of Philipstown for Democracy said: "This event is an opportunity to hear this nationally known expert speak on how the misuse of U.S. Intelligence threatens our country and our Constitution."

McGovern has appeared on the PBS News Hour, the Charlie Rose Show, CNN, MSNBC and numerous other TV networks. His articles have appeared in The Boston Globe, The Miami Herald, The International Herald Tribune and The Christian Science Monitor, among others. Currently, McGovern writes and talks on Speaking Truth to Power for Tell the Word. He is also active in Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, an organization he and several others created. VIPS now includes 61 former intelligence professionals concerned about intelligence information.

McGovern is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. He holds a B.A., summa cum laude, from Fordham College, an M.A. in Russian Studies from Fordham University, and a certificate in Theological Studies from Georgetown University.
