School Admin has Done Everything They Can to Douse the PV Spirit
To the Editor:

Unfortunately all is not fair in the PV Democratic process that was supposed to have worked so well. Tonight the HS administration moved the Pep Rally indoors (citing a threat of rain), when the night could not have been more beautiful.

In what seemed like a clear message to the students, and the community, the Administration still did things the way they had planned from the start. The decision was made early in the day, the Middle School students were told not to come, because it might rain, and the event was moved indoors.

What should have been two hours of music, fun and games, and dancing on the Turf, culminating with the bonfire, turned out to be a disjointed evening with half the kids in the gym and the rest outdoors playing on the turf, and hanging out in the parking lot, waiting for the bonfire. One student was removed by ambulance, when she injured her arm in the gym.

The DJ was told to set up his equipment indoors, even though he told parents he had no objection to playing outdoors.

Once again, the administration, 'did it their way', except this time they went against not just the kids and the community but the BOE also. After the turnout at the BOE meeting last Thurs., they knew, full well, what that event meant to the students and the community.

The decision, made today, was vindictive and deceitful and sent a clear message to parents and students alike.

They say 'You can't mess with Mother Nature", This current PVHS administration is sending the PV community, (including the BOE), a message, that we should not mess with them. 'They' will always have the final say.

What could anyone do at the last minute tonight, when everyone arrived, on the beautiful evening, to find out the events were being held indoors?

The bonfire went off, without a hitch, but the number of students in attendance was far fewer then in past years. What was lacking, was the familiar PV Spirit. The music wasn't there because the DJ was in the gym. The administration has done everything they can to douse the PV Spirit, the way the PV Fire Department put out the fire tonight, to end the evening at 7:45.
