Local Scholars Named National Merit Commended Students

Three local students who attend The Masters School have been named National Merit Commended Students in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. The students include: Molly Edwards '08, a resident of Putnam Valley, Alexandra Shishkoff '08, a resident of Garrison; and Maxwell Thaler '08, also of Garrison.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2008 competition by taking the 2006 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The Masters School (www.themastersschool.com) is a coed day and boarding school that engages 5th-12th grade students in a rigorous college preparatory curriculum. Located on a majestic 96-acre suburban campus, the 130-yearold school is just 35 minutes from New York City.
