Philipstown Pee Wee Football Squad Wins 18-6 Over Highland

The Philipstown Pee Wee division (1-2-1), coming off a tough loss against Beacon last week, picked up their first victory this past Sunday hosting Highlands. The Hawks squad did it all, scoring in the air and on the ground. On the Hawks' first possession third and fourteen Robert Dean connected with a 30-yard-pass to Ryan Dahlia setting up first and goal at the 9-yard line. The next play, a hand-off to John Brophy going between tackle JJ Giglio and end CJ O'Brien put the Hawks up on the board.

Late in the second quarter the Hawks Offensive drove 56 yards pushing a tough Highlands defense back making room for running backs Fusco, Brophy, Dahlia, and Trey Hodge. The Hawks scored again off tackle with Hodge hitting the hole and popping outside running 18 yards to put the Hawks up 12-0 at the half.

Highlands received the ball at the beginning of the second half marched down the field to put up 6 points of their own trailing 12-6.

Early in the fourth quarter on the Highlands 34-yard-line, third and long, Rob Dean threw a 35-yard bomb connecting with John Brophy who took it in, putting the Hawks up 18-6. Highland's only other threat was halted by a quick Nick DiGregorio who sacked Highlands QB for a 12-yard loss.

Outstanding defensive play by Austin Fusco, George Fibble and Ryan Dahlia who combined for 21 tackles, led the Hawks defense. The defensive line made up of Tommy Colamarino, Eric Reyes, Tommy Einterz, CJ O'Brien, Dario Wagman and Ryan Khan were just too physical for Highlands, giving up very little yardage. Corners Sean Walsh and Christopher Delemater kept Highlands from reaching the outside and kept their passing game to zero yards. The Hawks played their usual clean football with only two flags thrown and no turnovers. Hawks travel to Northern Dutchess next week.
