Forlow, Thom Power Reservoir Dogs to 5th Straight Win

The Reservoir Dogs of the Westchester Baseball Association won two games this past weekend to extend their win streak to five games.

On Sunday, the Dogs traveled to Brill Field to play the Mount Vernon All-Stars. The Dogs got off to an early first inning lead on Matt Forlow's two-run homer to deep center field. Matt also started on the mound, pitching five strong innings, striking out 9 and allowing only two earned runs. Teammate Ian Thom had the game-winning hit in the fifth inning. With the scored tied at two, and two runners on base, Ian capped off a three hit afternoon, when he drove a fastball over the left center field fence to give the Dogs a 5-2 lead. Thom then came in to pitch the bottom of the sixth inning and faced the heart of the Mount Vernon line-up. He retired them in order picking up his third save of the season. Matt Forlow earned the win, improving his record to 2 wins and 1 loss.

In Saturday's action, the Dogs hosted Scarsdale White at Dobbs Field in Croton. The Dogs won 6-2. The hitting stars of the game were Ryan Koval, who was 1-3 with an RBI and one run scored and teammate Ian Thom who contributed with a double and 2 RBI's. Ian again was put in the role of the closer, where he pitched a perfect sixth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

The Dogs are currently 5-2 and are tied for fourth place out of 14 teams in the Westchester Baseball League Reese Division. The Dogs will be back in action next weekend playing two doubleheaders. On Sunday they travel to Scarsdale and then on Columbus Day they will host first place Davidson (Bronx).
