Anna Mione at Howland Public Library
Come and meet local author Anna Mione at the Howland Public Library, 313 Main Street, Beacon, on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:30pm. Mione will discuss her novel, The Diva, the story of a major opera star. Anna was married to Ezio Flagello who was a leading bass-baritone at the Metropolitan Opera Company in New York. Anna will talk about her book and give participants an inside look at what it takes to be an opera singer. The program is free and open to the public.
Anna is a Beacon resident and is the self-published author of The Patriarch, The Matriarch, The Matriarch Conclusion, Sicilian Love Story, and Sicilian Seduction. Her books are about Sicilian culture and Sicilian immigrants. Anna's talk will pick up where her writing left off and will expand on the opera and Sicilian American life.
Anna Mione was born in 1929 of Sicilian immigrants in East Harlem, New York City. Educated in New York, she earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano and a Masters in Music Education at the Manhattan School of Music. She taught in Catholic as well as public schools, and did the most of her public school teaching in Ossining, New York. Anna has traveled extensively abroad.
