Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Presents: Working in and for Nature: Stories From the Past
Join the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum on Thursday, October 18, at 7:30pm at Painter's Tavern, Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, for an Evening Speakers Series: Working in and for Nature: Stories from the Past. Join Science Historian, Sara Tjossem as she relates two fascinating stories from Ecological Society of America (ESA) history, which suggests the tension between those who wanted to develop science separate from social and political issues and advocates of social activism. The science of ecology in the US has been shaped in part by ecologists' concerns for building respect for their field.
Ms. Tjossem is an historian of science, particularly biology. She teaches environmental history and policy at Columbia University.
The Evening Speakers Series has been funded in part by The New York Council for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities
