Philipstown Assessor Nichter Runs for Re- Election

Anne M. Nichter, the current Assessor for Philipstown, is running for re-election. Here is her announcement:

"Having lived in Philipstown for 37 years, I have had the opportunity to be active in the community for a long time. As a member of the Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps in its rewarding and formative years, and as a member of the Cold Spring Lions Club, having served as a past-President, I have met and spoken with many of you who live and work here.

"I have been Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals and was appointed to the Wetlands Advisory Committee. More recently I worked as a guide at Boscobel Restoration, and am currently the office manager for Constitution Island Association. I am also a member of the Putnam County Historical Society.

"I earned my certification as a New York State Assessor and as a State Certified Assistant Appraiser. I am a member of the New York State Assessors Association and have represented Philipstown in the Mid-Hudson Assessors Coalition. I am a practicing attorney and have had my Real Estate Broker's license since 1991 having worked in real estate here since 1971.

"I received my B.A. from Marymount Manhattan College, did my graduate work at Columbia University, and received my Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 1980.

"I have five grown children who were raised and educated in Philipstown. My daughter and her husband live in Garrison. I am a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church and am a lector at St. Joseph's Chapel where I also serve on their Building and Grounds Committee.

"I have been endorsed by the Democratic Party, the Conservative Party, Independence Party and Team Philipstown.

"In performing my duties as Assessor, which include, most importantly, communicating with the public and data collection, I get the job done. I again ask for your vote in November."
