Roger Chirico Seeks 3rd Term as Town of Philipstown Highway Superintendent

The following is his announcment:

"Roger M. Chirico is seeking his 3rd term as Town of Philipstown Highway Superintendent, a position he has served in for the past 10 years. Roger joined the Philipstown Highway Department when the late Joseph Percacciolo retired in 1998.

"Roger is a 45-year resident of the Village of Cold Spring, where he and his late wife, Betty, raised their three children, Karen, Roger and Michael. He also served as a trustee for the Village of Cold Spring for 10 years and as Mayor for 4 years.

"Roger has worked in the construction field for 50 years, and has worked on all phases of road construction and drainage. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local #137 where he was a member for 35 years.

"Over the past 10 years, he has been a member of the New York State Superintendent of Highways Association, where he receives information on funds that are made available by the state for townships. For 10 years, he attended classes on road maintenance with the Cornell roads program. He is also a member and acting vice-president of the Westchester-Putnam Town Superintendents of Highways.

"Roger says he believes that the action of the road crew, maintenance shop crew and the office personnel always reflects back on management. Our goal has always been to work together and keep the burden off of the taxpayer. "My record speaks for itself through the accomplishments I have made over these past 10 years."

"The highway crew has installed 4 large culverts, installed miles of drainage, and paved roads. These are jobs that in the past have been contracted out to private construction companies. By doing these jobs in house, the Highway Department has saved a large sum of money for the taxpayers.

"Roger has also initiated a shared services agreement with the Putnam County Highway Department. "By working together and using each others' equipment, we are keeping the cost of purchasing and renting equipment to a minimum."

"Saving the taxpayers money has always been a goal of mine. We have a lot of work that needs to be done on Philipstown's road system. Through hard work and proper planning, it is my intention to continue to give the residents of the Town of Philipstown the service expected of the Highway Department, whether it is grading roads, paving, installing drainage, improving site distance or installing guide rail, I have the employees and equipment to get the job done."

"I would like to offer an open invitation to the people of Philipstown to visit our facility and our operations at Fishkill Road, to look at the site, which includes the installation of the salt shed, inspect the condition of our equipment, new and used, our maintenance records on equipment, office management records, and the overall condition of our facility."

"I would like to thank you for your support in the past and, all though I am running unopposed, I would appreciate your support on Election Day, November 6."
