Cold Spring Area Chamber Hosts October Dinner Meeting & Networking
Melissa Everett, Ph.D from Sustainable Hudson Valley will be guest speaker

The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly membership meeting on Thursday, October 18, 2007. The evening will feature networking, business meeting and a three-course dinner at Hudson House, 2 Main St., Cold Spring.

The event kicks off with networking and cash bar from 6- 6:45 pm, followed by the meeting, dinner and a special guest speaker, Melissa Everett.

Melissa Everett, Ph.D. (Executive Director) has worked in the field of sustainable development for twelve years as an educator, trainer, organizational consultant, author, fundraiser and CEO. Trained in counseling and group facilitation through the Concord Institute in Massachusetts, Melissa is a skilled organizational developer and consensus builder. She teaches innovative courses in leadership and community service at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, involving undergraduate engineering students in service learning projects on campus and in the community.

She received her Ph.D. in 2006 from the International, Off-Campus Program of Erasmus University's Centre for Environmental Management and Sustainable Development in the Netherlands, a pioneering program for midcareer professionals worldwide. Her thesis research, now being developed into a book, focuses on the dynamics of "community turnarounds" and the role of social relationships. The author or coauthor of four books and many articles, Melissa has given lectures and workshops on three continents. Breaking Ranks, her study of conscientious objectors, won the Olive Branch Award from the NYU Center on War, Peace and the News Media. She is publishing a third edition of Making a Living While Making a Difference: Conscious Careers for an Era of Interdependence, shortly.

The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce was incorporated nearly 100 years ago and represents small business owners, non-profit organizations, and professionals in many fields throughout the Town of Philipstown in Putnam County, New York. The Chamber currently has membership of 180 area businesses.

The Chamber membership is always eager to welcome newcomers to our business and networking organization. If you rsvp your attendance and do not come to the meeting, every effort will be made to fill your seat. If not, you will be responsible for the cost of the mixer.
