Bestselling Author Jacquelyn Mitchard to Speak at Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon

On Friday, October 26, 2007 Support Connection, Inc. will welcome Jacquelyn Mitchard as the keynote speaker at their Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon. The luncheon, commemorating National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will take place at Traveler's Rest restaurant, Route 100, Ossining, NY from noon- 3pm.

Jacqyelyn Mitchard's first novel, The Deep End of the Ocean, was named by USA Today as one of the ten most influential books of the past 25 years. It was chosen as the first novel in the book club made famous by the TV host Oprah Winfrey, and transformed into a feature film produced by and starring Michelle Pfeiffer.

All of Ms. Mitchard's novels have been greater or lesser bestsellers - and include The Most Wanted, A Theory of Relativity, Twelve Times Blessed, The Breakdown Lane and Cage of Stars. Critics have praised them for their authentic humanity and skilful command of story. Readers identify because they see reflected in her characters - however extreme their circumstances - emotions they already understand.

After the luncheon and her keynote presentation, Ms. Mitchard will be available for book signing.

Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit Support Connection, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Yorktown Heights, NY that provides free and confidential support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Founded in 1996, Support Connection has had more than 8,000 participants in their programs.

Advance registration is required. The cost is $50 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Support Connection at 914-962-6402. For more information, visit www.supportconnection.org.
