Make a Good Choice Character Education Assembly at Haldane

Lou Del Bianco presented two Make a Good Choice character education programs for Haldane Elementary School students. Mr. Del Bianco is an actor/singer/storyteller who shares stories about his childhood with the students to allow them to decide what choices they would make if they were in his shoes and how those choices reflect on their own lives.

For the primary grades Mr. Del Bianco stressed the concepts of respect, honesty, responsibility, tolerance, effort and self-control. He gave the children numerous opportunities to share their feelings with their peers and some lucky students were able to perform on stage. The upper elementary program focused on tolerance, peer pressure, kindness, respect and self-control. At the end of each show there was a grand finale of dancing children on stage.

Haldane Elementary School students are studying character education with monthly themes. The themes are: September Respect; October-Positive Thinking; November-Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving; December-Compassion/ Kindness; January-Cooperation and Teamwork; February- Friendship; March-Honesty/ Trust and April-Responsibility.

Mr. Del Bianco's dynamic performance was a wonderful way to highlight the beginning of Haldane's character education themes. The "Make a Good Choice" assemblies were made possible through a grant from the Haldane School Foundation.
