Pee Wee Hawks (2-1-1) Outslug Northern Dutchess Raiders 20-6
The Pee Wee Hawks captured their second win, beating the Northern Dutchess Raiders in weekend football action. In the opening drive the determined Hawks squad marched down the field in methodical fashion to put the first seven points on the board. The front line George Fibble, JJ Giglio, CJ O'Brien, Tommy Colamarino, Eric Reyes, Tommy Einterz, Dario Wagman Sean Walsh, Christopher Delemater and Nick Digregorio pushed the Raiders back effortlessly. Ryan Dahlia racked up 32 yards line on the first drive for the Hawks before taking it in to put the Hawks on top 7-0.
The Hawks defense led by George Fibble, Ryan Dahlia, John Brophy and Austin Fusco stopped the Raiders on their first possession at their own 44-yard line. The young veterans picked up on offensive where they left off driving down the field with determination. Austin Fusco salvaged the drive on a key fourth and four by picking up the first down. Two plays later a pitch to Tray Hodge and a 14-yard run put the Philipstown Hawks up 13-0. Before the half it appeared the mighty Hawks defense put its guard down when the Raiders marched quietly down the field putting up a touchdown of their own, 13- 6.
The Raiders regained the ball at half and continued to advance the ball down the field before the Hawks defense stopped them on their own 14. The Hawks offense gave the ball back on a fumble at their own 28-yard line but the Raiders couldn't move the ball. The determined Philipstown Defense front line made up of; Ryan Khan Tommy Colamarino, Eric Reyes, Tommy Einterz, JJ Giglio, Dario Wagman and Nick Digregorio gang tackled all day. Defensive ends Robert Dean and CJ O'Brien stopped the Raiders sweep attack by keeping everything inside.
Late in the fourth quarter the Raiders put together another impressive drive to the Hawks 6-yard line, only to be stopped by a mighty Philipstown Defense with key plays from Corner backs Tray Hodge, Christopher Delemater and Sean Walsh.
The offense took over on downs with 4 minutes to go in the game. Backed up against the Raiders end zone, 4th and 3, a handoff to Brophy up the middle kept the drive alive. Austin Fusco followed with back-to-back runs up the gut, it was fourth down again but a quarter back sneak gave Philipstown another set of downs. With less than 2 minutes remaining and back on their own 24 yard line it was fourth and long, the Raiders blitzed but not before Quarterback Rob Dean threw down field to a sprinting Brophy who snagged the ball for a 76-yard touchdown. Final score 20-6
Other notables, No penalties, excellent kick-offs by Tommy Calamorino, Ryan Dahlia, fearless defensive play. The Hawks move into second place.
