Paolicelli Family of Putnam Valley Awarded in Fresh Air Fund Annual Photo Contest

The Fresh Air Fund is thrilled to announce the winners of its Annual Friendly Town Photo Contest, including the Paolicelli family of Putnam Valley, runner-up in the New Best Friends category. All winners were selected from the hundreds of pictures sent in by host families throughout the participating 13 states and Canada, reflecting the memorable experiences they shared with their New York City visitors this past summer. Categories include Brightest Smiles, New Discoveries, Family Photo Time and many more.

The winning photo, taken by local chairperson Amy Peck, features seven-year-old Krystal of Brooklyn (pictured left), with her host sister Emily and new friend Hannah.

This summer, nearly 5,000 New York City children visited volunteer host families in suburban and rural communities through The Fund's Friendly Town program. Through these experiences, Fresh Air children escaped the hot and crowded city streets to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer.

Summer 2008 will be upon us quickly, and The Fresh Air Fund needs more families to volunteer as hosts. There are no financial requirements, and the host family can choose the age and gender of their visitor. All that is needed is a little extra room in your heart and home. First-time visitors range in age from six to 12 and can be invited back through The Fund until age 18.

Take the opportunity to learn more about The Fresh Air Fund and hosting a child this summer. Contact the Putnam County Friendly Town chair, Josie Schlem, at (845) 621-3760 or call The Fund at (800) 367-0003. You can also visit The Fund's website at www.freshair.org.
