Update from the Village of Cold Spring Police Department
Officer in Charge Burris promoted to rank of Sargeant

A number of police reports were filed with the Village of Cold Spring Police Department over the past two weeks:

On October 3, 2007 Cold Spring Police Officer Gregory Walz stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon further investigation the driver, Adam Roufberg of Rifton, NY, was cited for insurance lapse. He was issued 2 summonses and his vehicle was impounded.

On October 6, 2007 Cold Spring Police Officer Terence Comiskey was on routine patrol when he was stopped by a Main Street store owner. The owner reported that she had observed a female subject put two books from her store into a paper bag and leave the store without paying. She followed the subject from the store and confronted her about the books. The suspect admitted taking the books to the store owner. The suspect Dominique Forin- Cohen of New York City was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny. Upon processing of her arrest she was discovered to be in possession of a small cross that was identified as having been stolen from another Main Street store. She was subsequently charged with another count of Petit Larceny.

On October 8, 2007 Cold Spring Police Officer Gregory Walz observed a vehicle speeding on Route 9D. Upon further investigation he found that the driver, Russell Ossendryver of New York City had two active suspensions on his license. He was issued two summonses and his vehicle was impounded.

At the Cold Spring Village Board meeting of October 9'h, Mayor Anthony Philips and the Board of Trustees promoted Officer-in-Charge Darrell Burris to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Burns has been employed as a police officer in the village since July 2001.
