Westchester County Teen Arrested for Disorderly Conduct
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 17 year-old Cortlandt Manor (NY) youth on disorderly conduct charges.
During the past several months, Putnam Valley merchants have alerted the Sheriff's Office that periodically teenagers skateboard in the middle of the road at the intersection of Lake and Morrissey Drives. The complaints stem from concerns that these skateboarders create a hazardous situation for themselves, as well as, for motorists traveling on the roadway.
On October 8, 2007, Investigator Christopher Spiconardi of the Sheriffs Bureau of Criminal Investigation observed a teenager skateboarding in the middle of the roadway blocking vehicular traffic. After conducting a field interview, Investigator Spiconardi arrested the skateboarder and charged him with Disorderly Conduct, a violation of the New York State Penal Law. After being processed, the youngster was released without bail to his father pending an October 25, 2007 court appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court.
A conviction of Disorderly Conduct may result in a fine as determined by the court and/ or a sentence of imprisonment in the Putnam County Correctional Facility not to exceed fifteen days.
