Three Teens Charged with Possessing Marijuana
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of three 16-year-olds after a Deputy Sheriff determined that the teens were in possession of quantity of marijuana.
On October 8, 2007 at about 4pm Deputy Corless was on patrol along the Cargill Reservoir on East Mountain Road North in the Town of Philipstown when he encountered 5 subjects in a vehicle in a remote pull-off near the dam of the reservoir. While interviewing the subjects the deputy determined that a 16-year-old male from Philipstown, a 16- year-old female from Nelsonville and a 16-year-old male from Mt. Kisco were each in possession of marijuana.
Each teen was issued an appearance ticket and released on pending court appearances in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court on October 24, 2007. Two 15-year-olds in the vehicle were released to their parents at the scene without charges.
A conviction for the offense charged carries a maximum penalty for a first offense of a monetary fine not to exceed $100.
