Fifth Annual PVHS Make a Difference Club Stay Awakea Thon: Reaching Beyond Our Borders

The biggest charity event of the Fall is coming to Putnam Valley High School on October 26-27 from 9:30pm to 7am- the Fifth Annual Stay- Awake-A-Thon. This is a funfilled evening and morning of dancing, karaoke, volleyball, tug of war, a pie eating contest, raffles, a gigantic twister game, movie, and more! Proceeds from this event will fund the 2007-08 Make A Difference Day Project - "Reaching Beyond Our Borders". On this National Day of Volunteering, the goal is to raise money for the Touching Tiny Lives Safe Home for AIDS orphans in Africa, PVHS Alumni Service Personnel serving overseas, and homeless shelters.

The PVHS Make A Difference Club has raised thousands of dollars for children's charities, local community projects, and humanitarian relief efforts in the US and abroad. In just six years the club has grown from a one-day-a year activity to a year-round fundraising and volunteerism powerhouse, averaging more than fifty students at each meeting. Last year PVHS Make a Difference raised over $8000 for Louisiana schools devastated by Hurricane Katrina in a grand series of fundraising events and activities; and in the fall of 2006 the annual Make a Difference Club Stay-Awake-a-Thon raised over $4000, which was donated to local children's hospitals and community programs.

All members of the Putnam Valley community are invited to participate in this year's Stay- Awake-A-Thon by becoming a chaperone; donating a raffle prize; sponsoring a student to stay up all night; baking or buying refreshments; and/or donating food and other items. Please drop off items to the labeled boxes outside the High School Nurse's Office (PVHS, 146 Peekskill Hollow Raod, Putnam Valley, NY 10579) or see Make A Difference Club co-advisors Linda Cefaloni or Pam Adamovich. For more information, email lcefaloni@pvcsd.org or padamovich@pvcsd.org. Donations/ checks can be made payable to: Make A Difference Club.
