Haldane PTA Announces Kickoff of Reflections Program
The Haldane PTA will officially kick off the 2007-08 National PTA Reflections Program at Haldane for Middle and High School students. The theme for this year's program is "I Can Make a Difference By…"
The National PTA Reflections Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program open to students in the areas of literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and film/video production. The works of art will be judged by professionals in the respective arts areas, and selected works will be advanced to the Taconic Region. From that point, selected works will advance to the state or national levels for judging.
The National PTA Reflections program is more than 38 years old. Ten million-plus students have participated in the program since it was created. Last year, twelve Haldane Students advanced to the regional level, five advanced to the State level and two Haldane Students, Jake Harms for Music Composition, and Greg Casement for Visual Arts, were recognized as Merit Award Winners at the State Level. Their works were on display at the 2008 New York State Convention.
Any student interested in participating in the program this year, can pick up entry forms and rules from the PTA Bulletin Boards in the Middle and High School buildings. All submissions must be given to Jean Cendali, Haldane Art Teacher or Debbie Contini, Haldane Band Teacher, by December 14. For more information, please contact Haldane co-chairs Debbi Milner at 265- 4806 or Katie Bissinger at 265- 4480.
