Soprano Camille King and Pianist Regan Smith in Chapel of Our Lady Restoration Season Finale
A classical duo from Dallas, soprano Camille King and pianist Regan Smith, bring the Chapel of Our Lady Restoration's concert season to a soaring close on Sunday, November 4, at 4pm.
"Powerful performances from the evening's soloists, notably soprano Camille King who sang with focus, communicative ease and an appealing stage demeanor," The Orange County Register said of her in Mozart's Requiem with the Pacific Chorale. Ms. King has sung leading roles with the Rome, Innsbruck, Minnesota and San Francisco operas, among others, and is in great demand as soloist for orchestra, oratorio and chamber music performances, and in recital. In March, she was soloist in Brahm's Requiem with the Kona (Hawaii) Symphony and Chorus.
Resident soprano with the Chamber Players of the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra for a number of years, Ms. King earned her B.A. degree at the University of California at Santa Barbara and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. Other organizations with which Ms. King has appeared are the Fort Worth Symphony, Tulsa Oratorio Society, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific Chorale, New West Symphony, Virginia Symphony and the Orchestra of New Spain, singing the sacred music of Francisco Courcelle.
Regan Smith, upon earning a bachelor's degree in music from California State University and a master's in music from Yale, both in piano performance, embarked on a highly successful business career, starting an internet multimedia company in Dallas. Concert pianist became his avocation, and he performs in recital, as a chamber musician, concerto soloist with orchestra and as a vocal accompanist. Most recently, he performed two etudes of Augusta Read Thomas in the Voices of Change Concert Series in Dallas. In collaboration with Southern Methodist University's Wind Ensemble, he and Carol Leone, a concert pianist who is also his wife, recorded Silver Chants of the Litanies, another of Ms. Thomas' compositions, for Gasparo Records in a world premiere. They also opened the university's concert season 2003/2004, playing Mozart's Concerto in E-Flat for Two Pianos with the SMU Meadows Symphony Orchestra.
The chapel is located at 45 Market Street, Cold Spring. Admission to the concert is free, and free parking is available on weekends at the adjacent Metro North Train Station. The music series is partially funded by the Putnam Arts Fund, supported by public funds from the county and administered by the Putnam Arts Council. Contributions are welcome.
