Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam Hosts Annual Caring Circle Cocktail Party

On Saturday, September 29, 2007, over 180 guests gathered at Farview Farm in Bedford Hills for the 10th Annual Caring Circle Cocktail party to benefit Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam's bereavement programs. This year's party was held at Farview Farm, the home of Dr. Gina Lodolini and Dr. Neil Capolongo, and was chaired by Taylor and Aaron Taylor of Pound Ridge.

The event raised over $46,000 for Hospice Care's Caring Circle children's bereavement program, the Maggie Rose Perinatal Bereavement Program and Hospice's adult bereavement services. All of Hospice Care's bereavement services are offered at no cost to residents of Westchester and Putnam who have lost a loved one in our community.

Wine and hors d'oeuvres were served as guests mingled in the spacious home. Returning to this year's party was the "Take a Chance" game in which guests could purchase a $20 chance to win a selection of donated prizes or a dove shaped cookie - a tradition for The Caring Circle Cocktail Party. The game was popular among guests and helped to raise an additional $1,600 for Hospice Care. Donated prizes included a weeklong getaway to Vermont, gift certificates to local restaurants and an iPod shuffle, among others.

"Once we again we were incredibly fortunate to have a beautiful venue, gracious hosts, and strong community support for the Caring Circle event," said Taylor Taylor, co-hostchair for the event. "We are very grateful to everyone who helped with the party and came out to support the Caring Circle."

Special thanks to Bedford Wine Merchants, Mt. Kisco Wine & Spirits, Maria and George Roach and Dr. Gina Lodolini and Dr. Neil Capolongo for opening their hearts and their home in support of Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam.

The Caring Circle meets biweekly in Yorktown Heights and Yonkers and is open, at no cost, to all children in our area who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Under the guidance of counselors specifically trained to deal with childhood grief, the Caring Circle children participate in activities such as art and music that encourage self-expression and help them heal from their loss. Last year, 209 children and 143 families participated in the Caring Circle.

Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam is the area's largest provider of home health care to patients facing life-threatening or advanced illnesses. For more information about the programs and services available through Hospice Care, please call (914) 666-4228.
