How Many of Tamagna's Listed Achievements Were Actually the Work of Others?
Dear Editor and Philipstown Residents:

I must admit how surprised I was when I read an ad on page 15 of the Putnam County News and Recorder in the Wednesday October 17, 2007 edition under the heading What Has Vinny Tamagna Done?

He claims that he had brought the restrooms to Lower Main Street in the Village of Cold Spring through a MetroNorth partnership. This just isn't so!

When Assemblywoman Sandy Galef began representing our town, she asked me what the needs of the community were. One of my responses was to have restrooms on Main Street for tourists, commuters and other uses. Sandy worked with Metro North to convince them that this project was related to train service from Cold Spring and she alone secured money from Metro North to build this project. This important capital project was supervised by Metro North and the Mayor of Cold Spring.

Vinny Tamagna shouldn't and certainly cannot take credit for these new restrooms in the village. I wonder what other achievements he lists that were actually the result of The Work of Other elected officials or community volunteers.

Betty Budney Philipstown Councilwoman
