Michael Prentice is Recipient of American Association of Teachers of Italian Essay Prize
Michael Prentice of Garrison, is one of four recipients of the prestigious 2006-2007 College Essay Prize given by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. Michael's topic was a micro-analysis of the discourse strategy of then Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the latter's televised appearances. The annual essay contest on any aspect of Italian culture is open to all undergraduate students in North America, upon recommendation by their professor.
Michael is a 2007 graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he concentrated in Italian, linguistics, and anthropology. He spent his junior year at Brown's program in Bologna, Italy. He resides in Garrison, with his parents, Nathaniel and Anita Prentice.
The American Association of Teachers of Italian was founded in 1924 to promote the study of Italian language, literature, and culture in schools, colleges and universities in North America. It has approximately 1500 members worldwide. The essay awards were funded by the AATI and the Joseph and Elda Coccia Foundation in New Jersey.
