Literacy Volunteers of Putnam County Host Penny Social
Literacy Volunteers of Putnam County will be sponsoring a Penny Social for Saturday, November 3 at Guideposts, located at 39 Seminary Hill Road in Carmel. The doors will open at 1pm and the drawing of tickets will begin at 2pm sharp. In addition to the penny tables, there will be a specials table, 50/50 raffle, specialty baskets, and door prizes. Refreshments and beverages will also be on sale.
For over 28 years, Literacy Volunteers of Putnam County, a nonprofit organization, has been training tutors to work one-on-one with area residents to improve adult literacy in Putnam. There are currently 175 tutor/student pairs in the Putnam County program.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support the organization's two main programs: basic reading and English as a second language. For more information, call the Literacy Volunteers of Putnam County office at 628- 8139.
