Veterans Honored in Ceremony at St. Mary's, Cold Spring

There will be a brief ceremony on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 11am at the Veterans Memorial, located on

the lawn of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Cold Spring. This year our calendars show Veterans Day on Monday as a

Federal Holiday. However Veteran Organizations since 1918 have always honored veterans on the 11th day,11th

hour of November. The program will honor all veterans who served this great country, those veterans who made

the ultimate sacrifice and current Armed Forces who are serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan, the United States and other parts of the world.

In the United States, Veteran's Day is a Federal Holiday. To many it is just another day off from school or work. To Veterans however the day has a much deeper meaning. To them it symbolizes the commitment they made to our country while serving in the Army, Navy,Marines, Air Force , Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. The special tribute will be lead by members of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Post 2362 and the American Legion, Post 275, both of Cold Spring. All veterans and members of Philipstown are invited to attend, rain or shine.
