| The Putnam County AARP Chapter 1183 has announced its winter program scheduling. This promises to be an exciting, intellectually stimulating year with this chapter. Even if you belong to individual Senior Centers in Putnam County, you will want to join this AARP group to know about issues and ideas related to the county. Newspapers and TV give only
spotty review of this information. You owe it to yourself to hear "first-hand" the speakers' presentations and take part in the discussions, making up your own mind concerning anything controversial. Meeting other seniors from all over the county, and informally chatting over coffee and a sweet, can foster new friendships as well as broaden outlooks. This chapter meets at 2pm, the second Saturday of each month at Guideposts in Carmel, NY. If you have difficulty with the location or getting to these meetings, be sure to call AARP President John Zaborney at 845- 277-3149 or Email him at Zabornej402@aol.com
This is the upcoming winter schedule:
-November 10: John Katzenstein of the Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau will speak concerning consumer frauds and about the services the Attorney General's Office of NY can provide to New Yorkers.
-December 8: a Holiday Luncheon will be held at the Four Brothers Restaurant in Mahopac, on Route 6 (only $20). This is a delightful time to meet other Putnam Seniors.
-January 12, 2008: William Huestis, Director of the Putnam County Office for Aging will speak of matters of importance to Putnam County Seniors.
All Putnam County Senior Citizens are invited to these events; even if you don't currently belong to AARP you are welcome. If you have any questions concerning AARP or these events, be sure to call or contact President, John Zaborney at the above numbers.
