'Twas The Night Before Christmas at Locust Grove

Each weekend in December, step back in time and re-live the romance of Christmas past at Locust Grove. This year, celebrate the holiday season as they feature the classic Christmas tale 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, a Hudson Valley legend that has enchanted families for generations with "visions of sugar plums". Recent scholarship suggests that the original teller of this perennial favorite may have been Locust Grove's first resident, Henry Livingston, Jr., and so they've created a fantasy world to match! Get in the holiday spirit as you enjoy glittering decorations throughout the historic mansion, where each room has a different Christmas theme.

The estate will delight visitors with a feast for the senses. An enormous Christmas tree fills the Drawing Room's bay window and historic music wafts through the halls, along with the scent of evergreens from elaborately-decorated mantles. A magical glow illuminates the house where romantic decorations will thrill adults and children alike.

After touring the mansion, enjoy the sunset over the Hudson River from the porch, or stroll back through the landscape garden to the elegant Museum Pavilion where you can enjoy holiday music and hot spiced cider and cookies on Saturdays, and the holiday hunt for children on Sundays. Don't miss the exciting Museum Shop, filled with treats for everyone!

Decorated Mansion Tours, Saturdays & Sundays, December 1 - 23 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Tour the mansion at your own pace. Guides in each room share information on the showcased museum collections and decorations. House tour fee: $9/ person, $5/children under 12 years (does not include the hunt), includes self-guided mansion tour, holiday music, hot cider & cookies.
