Putnam Valley Man Wins PVBA Business Expo Trip to St. Croix

Pictured, left to right are: Maureen McLaughlin, Gary Grandstaff, Cathleen Calanni, and Marie Zarcone.
Gary Grandstaff doesn't consider himself lucky. At least, not until now. Gary, who lives on Gilbert Lane, is engaged to be married to his lovely fiancée, Cathleen Calanni. She urged him to go to the PVBA Business Expo, and reluctantly, he agreed. Although not sure about what a Business Expo was all about, they received the post card from the Post Office advertising the eBay seminar to learn how to sell items. While in the class, Cathleen saw people with the 'contest cards", and asked what that was about. So when the class was over, she went upstairs, got a card, and completed it; going around to all the vendors at the expo and sampling all the fine foods, and services.

When the winner's name was revealed at the Expo, Gary was no longer there and had no idea that he won. But at 6am the next day, when Mike Bennett announced that "the winner is from Putnam Valley, and his name is Gary Grandstaff, Cathleen, who was listening to the radio, could not get the words out to tell Gary that he won! When the PVBA marketing coordinator, Maureen McLaughlin contacted him a few hours later and confirmed the win, Gary was ecstatic. "We are getting married, and will use this for our honeymoon!

"We were hoping someone from Putnam Valley would win the trip," said McLaughlin; but it's even better when nice people like this win it."
