Cold Spring Boat Club Sees Big Increase in Waterborne Visitors

It is well known that Cold Spring is a mecca for visitors to the Hudson Valley. But did you know that one of the favorite ways for them to arrive is by boat? The Cold Spring Boat Club keeps the outside docks at the Club, the ones facing the river, for visitors to this fair Village. Boating visitors do not clog the local streets with traffic or compete for the few parking spaces. They arrive, tie up at the dock at the Boat Club dock, a service provided for free by the members of the Club, and stroll up Main Street, sightseeing, dining and shopping.

This year was a banner year for those visitors. A total of 1238 boats signed our log, up from 838 last year, carrying 4543 passengers as compared to 2957 in 2006. Of those, 2441 said they were going to have lunch, 1662 came for dinner and 2961 said they were hoping to do some shopping while in town. That's a lot of people with no traffic hassle for the local merchants and restauranteurs and helps keep Main Street busy and lively.
