House Tours Kick Off Holiday Season in Hudson Valley "Cold Spring By Candlelight," set for November 24: Thanksgiving weekend fun for the whole family
"Cold Spring by Candlelight: Holiday House Tours and Shopping on Main Street America" is the premier holiday destination event of the year and it's set for Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 2-7pm in Cold Spring.
"Cold Spring by Candlelight" is a holiday house tour and shopping event that will take place throughout the Village of Cold Spring creating an annual destination and promotion event for village shop and restaurant owners. And all proceeds from the event will go to PARC, a nonprofit organization, which provides programs and services for developmentally disabled children and adults throughout Putnam County.
"Cold Spring by Candlelight" is a day and evening event with tours of 10 unique and historic houses and sites in the Village of Cold Spring. Cold Spring's stores and shops will be open late for holiday shopping and the village restaurants will be offering specials to event attendees. Expect carolers, holiday music concerts, visits from Old St. Nick, and holiday storytelling throughout the event.
"This is our fifth annual tour and visitors can expect to see new houses and attractions during this year's event plus a few surprises too," said Rand Bridget Otten, director of development for PARC and creator of Cold Spring by Candlelight. "This tour is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season, and in the spirit of giving, all proceeds support PARC's children and adults with developmental disabilities."
Event sponsors include D. Bertoline & Sons, the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, I Love NY/Putnam Visitors Bureau, the Village of Cold Spring, Taconic Media, and Limited Editions Realty.
"Unique historic homes, unique gift shops, all decorated like a Currier and Ives print, plus our small town hospitality will make Cold Spring by Candlelight an authentic holiday experience," said Jonathan Kruk, renowned Hudson Valley Storyteller who will be a part of this year's event.
