SeniorNet Registration for Winter Classes & The "200 Series of Word Processing"

SeniorNet student Frank Meslener is seen viewing treasured scrapbook pages of restored family pictures, artfully mounted by SeniorNet instructor Marjorie Renstrom. This is the type of creative scrapbook work made possible in SeniorNet courses
Registrations for January through June 2008 SeniorNet classes have been scheduled for November 28, 2007: Putnam Valley SeniorNet (117 Town Park Lane), and December 4, 2007 for The William Koehler Center in Mahopac (180 Route Six). Register from 9am to 12 noon at these centers.

Computer Fundamentals, Word Processing Basics, Internet and Email as well as Photo Shop and Digital Camera courses will be given.

Once you learn the basic computer skills and you feel comfortable with the keyboard you probably wanted to go straight to the internet and Email, but if that is all you can do with the computer, you are missing out on the creative aspects and the fun you can have once you learn more about what you can do on the computer. Did you realize you can make your own greeting cards and invitations? You can turn scrapbooking into an art with the framing of artifacts and pictures and decorating the pages. You can easily type decorative recipes on cards. How about a fancy label for those cookies or cakes you give away, saying "Made in ----`s Kitchen"? Writing newsletters can be fun and easy, and creating flyers and bulletins for events can be colorful and artistic. You can do a data base of all your family and friends and from it make your own mailing labels to use year after year. No more of that handwriting chore each holiday season.

Why are you limiting yourself to simple articles and letters and looking things up on the Internet? Why not expand your vistas, and your mind, by the way? Using the computer to make documents and colorful cards can expand your creativity. Your scrapbooks and mementos will turn into treasures for your grandchildren or friends. All of these above mentioned activities are hidden for you in your computer. Why don't you look into the "200 Series" classes?.

#202: Goes into detail about Editing and Formatting in order to create newsletters, bulletins, and other creative documents
