Central Hudson Urges Customers to Support the Good Neighbor Fund

Central Hudson's Good Neighbor Fund has provided benefits to more than 12,000 Mid-Hudson Valley families over the last 20 years - and now, more than ever, needs the help of Central Hudson customers. "The Good Neighbor fund is in dire need of refurbishment, and we're asking our customers to please support this worthy program of neighbors helping neighbors, especially as the winter heating season approaches," said Senior Vice President of Customer Services Charles A. Freni.

"The fund was developed to help families facing financial hardships, and who have exhausted all other forms of public assistance," said Freni. "The program is funded through customer donations and CH Energy Group shareholders, and has become an important resource for those who need it most.

"The fund balance is near its all-time low, and is in need of customer contributions so that benefits will be available to families facing financial difficulties this winter due to hardships such as the loss of income or unexpected medical expenses," he said.

To contribute to the program, customers simply check the box on their utility bill for the Good Neighbor Fund, indicate their donation of $1 to $10, and add that amount to their payment. Customers may also make a donation by sending a check payable to "The Good Neighbor Fund" to Central Hudson's Consumer Outreach Department, 284 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. CH Energy Group shareholders match customer contributions to the fund.

"This program is a terrific way for local residents to help their neighbors," said Freni. "Every dollar contributed is tax deductible and stays right here in the Hudson Valley to help a local family in need. It's a way for us all to work together to provide vital assistance to those facing difficult times."
