How the New Chamber of Commerce Website Can Work For You

The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce has been steadily improving the benefits we have to offer our Members. This column, to appear monthly in the Putnam County News and Recorder is just one way the Chamber is reaching out to our membership. Each month, we will keep you informed on issues that affect your businesses and offer information that can help to keep us all successful.
One important improvement that can benefit everyone is the Chamber of Commerce website (www.coldspringchamber.com). If you haven't looked at it in a while, be sure to check it out. Our website chairperson, Gillian Thorpe, has been making updates almost daily including new, clearer easy-to-read- and find- membership listings.
The most exciting addition is the new Community Calendar. Open to all members, it is full of events that are happening in the area. Now there is one place organizations in the community can go to plan events and local people and tourists alike can use it to plan their activities. To post an event, send an email to Gillian at butterfd@bestweb.net.
There are also great new options for promoting your business through the Chamber website. Advertising space is now available for reasonable, monthly rates: Banner Space (470px by 65px) is $25 a month for members and $50 a month for non-members; sidebar ads (170px by 170px) are $15 a month for members and $30 for non-members. Additionally the Chamber can help you create a web presence. For a small fee, we can help to create a startup site for you that can launch from the Chamber's site.
The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce website averages 47 page views a day, 331 views a week and 1,439 views a month! That's a lot of potential business from which we can all benefit. If you'd like to learn more about these opportunities, attend our Mixer to be held on Thursday, November 15 at 6pm at the Butterfield Library, 10 Morris Avenue in Cold Spring. Gillian will give a presentation on the new website opportunities and you will have a chance to meet the candidates for the 2008 Board of Directors. A light buffet will be provided by Fresh Company and we ask you to bring an inexpensive bottle of wine to share. The price is $17 for members and $20 for nonmembers. We hope to see you there.
