A Unique Experience
Dear Editor:

For some, the recent Philipstown elections may have been just another local election. This was not so for myself. I had the pleasure of working to elect the Team Philipstown members of Bill Mazzuca, Nancy Montgomery and Cathy Lilburne. Having not been involved in a political campaign before it proved to be both interesting and impressive.

Despite my personally knowing Bill Mazzuca, I have always been impressed with his professional demeanor and vast knowledge of the town. He is a Natural Fit for the job he now holds and not surprisingly has been re-elected by an overwhelming majority to continue in his dedication to the people of this town as his previous 14 years of accomplishments have shown.

My first impressions of both Nancy Montgomery and Cathy Lilburne as candidates for town board were positive and listening and researching their dedicated efforts to the town convinced me that this was a winning team to support.

While Cathy Lilburne may come up slightly short in the vote, she and others that took the time to try and provide a valuable service to this town should be commended for such and hopefully this experience has made them stronger and maybe they will consider another try in the future?

Last but certainly not least, to The People Behind The Curtain; those dedicated experienced volunteers who sacrifice numerous personal hours for no compensation, with the hope that the person (s) they support can be elected and help make Philipstown that much better. I salute you. I have personally learned a great deal from this process and hope that maybe this might inspire someone else to volunteer in the future.
