Veterans Day - Remember Our Vietnam Heroes
Dear Editor:

I'm angry and always will be about the treatment our returning Vietnam vets received following the US "Surrender". Those men were drafted; they did not volunteer to fight in a war that had absolutely no significance to America- no natural resources to protect (oil) or even the possibility of spreading Communism anywhere in the region.

I won't go on about this, but you can clearly see where I'm going- this so-called war in Iraq is being fought by Volunteers who we hail as heroes. How about the 58,000 dead Vietnam heroes and the thousands who returned home, some who suffer today, to be ridiculed and spat upon?

Now, more than 40 years since I lost 4 buddies in Vietnam, we are beginning to realize that ridicule was misdirected- it should have been squarely aimed at every government and military official who supported a war that should never have been. This Veterans Day, I will mourn 58,000 innocent victims and honor those who were fortunate to return safely.

On Veterans Day this year, and all years to come, honor our vets respectfully. But please don't forget our "Viet-Vets", who innocently sacrificed so much for our country.

"When will they ever learn; When will they ever learn".
