Putnam Hospital Center Annual Gala Dinner and Ball Held
Putnam Hospital Center (PHC) celebrated providing 43 years of quality healthcare to the community with "An Evening in Paris" at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich on Saturday, November 10. The annual gala dinner and ball fundraiser honored retired PHC obstetrician/ gynecologist Fred Katz, MD, and PHC volunteer and community leader Mary Frances Balzer. Former PHC President and CEO Michael T. Weber, who is currently President and CEO of Health Quest, PHC's parent organization, was also honored. He was presented with a schematic naming the hospital/community use conference center in the five-story patient building currently under construction "The Michael T. Weber Community Auditorium."
According to Ball Committee Co-Chairs Drs. Vinita and Arun Agarwal, the hundreds of attendees at the black tie optional event enjoyed both a silent auction and a live auction, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, dinner, dancing and a limited ticket car raffle for a 2007 Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV or $30,000 cash.
The big winner of the evening was Putnam Hospital Center itself. The Carmel hospital, Putnam County's only acute care hospital as well as its largest employer, raised over $350,000 at its largest fundraiser of the year. The monies will be directed to PHC's new building project which includes the construction of the five-story Camarda Care Center to house the hospital's new cancer center with radiation therapy, hospital/ community use conference center, private patient rooms and physician offices; renovation of 20,000 square feet of existing space to centralize services and enhance clinical programs; and an additional 400 parking spaces.
