Sgt. Darrell J. Burris
Sgt. Darrell J. Burris, of Carmel, NY, Officer-In-Charge of the Village of Cold Spring Police Department, died Thursday, November 15, 2007. He was 37. He was born on November 18, 1969 in Cortlandt Manor, NY, the son of Thomas Burris of North Port, FL, and Nancy Hubbell of Fort Plain, NY.
Darrell grew up in Middleburgh, NY where he graduated from Middleburgh High School. Darrell served in the US Coast Guard. He was a former dispatcher for the New York State Police and the Somers Volunteer Fire Department and a former officer for the Pound Ridge Police Department. He was a proud member of the Stephen Driscoll Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, the North American Police Work Dog Association and the US Police K-9 Association.
He is survived by his wife Linda and son Ryan of Carmel, his brothers Duane of North Adams, MA, and Jon of Hagerstown, MD, and his canine partner, Duncan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20 at 10am at St. James The Apostle Church in Carmel. Private cremation services will follow.
