Putnam Valley Middle School's Wellness Fair Highlighted Helmet Safety
On November 7, 2007, the Putnam Valley Middle School held their annual Wellness Fair. One of the many contributions made to the program is the awareness and importance of Helmet Safety/Awareness in Putnam Valley. Two parents, Nora Messinger and Cathy Zikorus, under the guidance of Burke Rehabilitation, did this presentation; their effort and time, in addressing this issue, which better informs children on their own safety, was greatly appreciated. Helmet safety has been an increasing issue in our community as well as in others. Students signed contracts promising to wear helmets and have been educated on the dangers of not wearing them. Burke Rehabilitiation made a presentation full of impact. All of this was an example of what the PTA represents: a community of teachers and parents working together to make a difference.
The Putnam Valley Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Executive Committee would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of the Wellness Fair. The Putnam Valley Health Advisory Council chaired by Pam Darreff, the Middle School Health Teacher, puts together a wonderful program every year.
