Mid-Hudson Ballet Company Presents Their Gala at Eisenhower Hall
Estelle and Alfonso, artistic directors of the non-profit Mid- Hudson Ballet Company, have announced the company's repertoire for the gala Hudson Valley Holiday performances at West Point's Eisenhower Hall Theatre. The company is thrilled to be working with live musicians and have been in rehearsal learning their new routines, getting fitted for costumes and polishing up their skills. Special guests for these big holiday shows that are open and free to the public, include youngsters from the Russian Ballet School, Estelle & Alfonso's Dancers and the Gym Stars. The program promises to be diverse and very entertaining.
The opening number will introduce several vocalists with a background of young actor/ dancers in All I Want for Christmas is You. One of the most unusual sections will be the Contemporary Nutcracker Suite, which is a cartoon-like play on the classic. It will feature mice, soldiers, flowers doing the unexpected to familiar and unfamiliar music. Christmas through the Eyes of a Child will showcase two very young ballerinas. Heat Miser/Snow Miser Dual will be an entertaining piece and It Happened in Sun Valley as sung by four vocalists, will be enhanced by the dancers.
Hudson Valley Holiday will be played by the United States Military Concert Band and the Jazz Knights. These are worldrenowned musicians that have played all over the world. Santa Claus has it on his calendar to participate in each performance. He will available in the lobby after each show to greet the children in person.
Special dancers from the Mid-Hudson Ballet Company will include Cynthia Cohen of Fishkill, Marisa Finkelberg of Hopewell Junction, Kimberly Usewicz of LaGrangeville, and Chloe Wareham-Gordon from Garrison. At least thirty dancers will be performing.
Two performances have been scheduled this year to accommodate the growing number of fans who attend this holiday extravaganza. There is no admission charge for "Hudson Valley Holiday" which is open and free to the public. Seating is excellent in this beautiful theatre that has been compared to Radio City Music Hall. The Saturday performance is December 15 at 7:30 p.m. while the Sunday, December 16 show is at 2:30pm.
