Tompkins Corners Family Music Festival Hosts Special Christmas Program Putnam Chorale to perform, Blue Horse Rep to read A Christmas Carol
On Friday, December 14 at 7pm The Tompkins Corners Family Music Festival will sponsor a special Christmas program at the Church, located at 729 Peekskill Hollow Road, in Putnam Valley. The Putnam Chorale Ensemble will open with seasonal music and a sing-a-long. The Putnam Chorale is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian community chorus founded in 1984. The full chorus consists of over 60 members from Putnam County and surrounding areas. The ensemble is an offshoot of the main group who perform at nursing homes, hospitals and join in community festivities throughout the year.
As a special treat for the children, Reverend Gordon Bienvenue will appear as Saint Nicholas.
The evening will continue with a concert reading of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens by The Blue Horse Repertory Company
Blue Horse Repertory Company (or Blue Horse Rep) is a new and innovative professional theatre company founded by the late actor, Leo Burmester. Mr. Burmester's untimely death kept him from realizing his dream of starting a repertory company. Hs wife, actress/writer, Lora Lee Ecobelli, is committed to continuing his vision.
Blue Horse Rep is an inclusive collage of professional actors, writers and musicians dedicated to the development and workshopping of new works as well as the performance of classics. With a commitment to our local citizens in the Hudson Valley, where we will also create outreach programs for people with special needs, seniors and children.
Blue Horse Rep will launch its eclectic and exciting season with a beautiful concert reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, directed by Lora Lee Ecobelli and adapted by Brad Bellamy and Kurt Rhoads. Starring Stu Hample as Scrooge, the evening includes a lively cast of local actors and musicians from Kitchen Table Band, Putnam County's favorite string band.
Donations of canned goods, diapers and toiletries will be accepted for The Community Action Program.
Snow date is Saturday Dec 15 at 3pm. Due to the Putnam Chorale's busy schedule only A Christmas Carol will be presented on that date. Admission is: $12, $10 seniors, children under 7 free. For tickets and information, contact: Gwen Cope 845-528-5076.
