Garrison Man Arrested for Sexually Abusing Co-Worker

Putnam County Sheriff Smith has reported the arrest of a 79 year-old Garrison man accused of sexually abusing a 43 yearold co-worker.

According to the Sheriff, on October 31, 2007, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office received a report from a Putnam County resident that her employer had allegedly touched the intimate areas of her body without her consent. The incident reportedly occurred at her place of business located in the Town of Philipstown.

The case was assigned to Investigator Vincent M. Martin of the Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. His investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael Margolies of Garrison, NY.

On November 21, 2007 Mr. Margolies was taken into custody by Investigators Martin and Nicholas DePerno, Jr. He was charged with Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a class "B" misdemeanor. Mr. Margolies was arraigned before Philipstown Justice Stephen Tomann and subsequently released without bail. At the time of arraignment, Justice Tomann issued an order of protection on behalf of the victim mandating Mr. Margolies to refrain from having contact with the complainant. Mr. Margolies is scheduled to return to court on December 12, 2007.

A conviction of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree may be punishable by a term of imprisonment of up three months In the Putnam County Correctional Facility.
