Putnam Valley High School (PVHS) is proud to announce that students Jackson Gilman- Forlini (voice-tenor), Maggie McCarthy (voice-soprano), and Stephanie Stoisits (flute) were selected to perform in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 10 Area-All State Music Festival, held on November 16 and 17 at Taconic Hills High School in Craryville, NY. The Area All State concert band and chorus are composed of high school students from Putnam, Columbia and Dutchess counties who achieved exceptional scores on their prior year's NYSSMA solo adjudication.

Additionally, Jackson was selected to perform in the All State and All Eastern Division Honor Choir- a first for a PVHS music student. He will be performing at the annual NYSSMA winter conference in Rochester, New York, in December. Jackson has also been accepted into the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Eastern Division Honor Choir, comprising students from the Middle Atlantic and New England states. Jackson will perform with this group at the biennial Eastern Division conference in Hartford, Connecticut, in February. These two major accomplishments are in addition to his having performed last year with the NYSSMA Area All-State Chorus in Carmel and the ACDA National Honor Choir in Miami, Florida.

Instrumental music director Ryan Odell said, "The high school music department is extremely proud of these three students. Their hard work and excellence in musicianship has taken them to new heights. We all wish them the best of luck at the festivals and hope their overall experiences are good ones."
