Cold Spring Fire Company Pipes and Drums to Hold Open House for New Members Burns Night supper event date is announced
The Cold Spring Fire Company Pipe Band is starting its third year and is seeking new members. The band will hold an open house and holiday party at the Silver Spoon Restaurant on December 17 at 7:30pm. The event is open to all, even if you just want to come hear the band play some of their new material. Adults and children ages 12 and older are invited to stop if they are interested in joining the band or finding out more about piping and drumming. Free food and soft drinks will be provided. Band practice is every Monday night at the Cold Spring Fire House. Beginner lessons start at 6pm; regular band practice starts at 7pm.
Highlights from the past year include the Pipe Band Ceilidh (dance) at Mayor's Park, competition performances at the Rockland Feis and Hunter Mountain Celtic Festival, the Cold Spring Memorial Day parade, the Fire Company's Block Party and fireworks display, plus several other parades and events around the region. The most exciting event from 2007, the band's inaugural Burns night celebration at the Highlands Country Club, was a huge success.
This winter the band will again celebrate the birthday of Scotland's National Poet, Robbie Burns. The 2nd Burns Night Supper will be held at the Highlands Country Club on January 26, 2008, from 7pm to midnight. Your ticket includes traditional celtic music, a performance by the Cold Spring Fire Company Pipes and Drums, celtic dancing, dinner, whiskey toasts, and an open bar from 7-11pm. Tickets are $125, but are at the discount price of $110 if purchased prior to December 31. For more information on joining the band or to purchase Burns Night tickets, contact Seth Gallagher at 265-5508, or at pipemajor@coldspringpipeband.org.
