Alzheimer's Disease Screening Available at the Putnam County Office for the Aging

Alzheimer's Disease is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States, and more than 5.1 million Americans have been diagnosed with this fatal disease. Every 72 seconds, someone In American develops Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. It is a progressive disease that gets worse over time.

Researchers are making great strides to find a cure, as well as try to curtail the progression of the disease. The Office for the Aging offers, free-ofcharge, an Alzheimer's Screening Test administered by their Geriatric Care Manager, Jeanette Baldanza, RN.

For more information on Alzheimer's Disease, and support groups for patients and Caregivers in the area, please call Jeanette Baldanza, RN @ (845) 628-4633.
