Seeking Input on 2008 Cold Spring by Candlelight Event Dear Editor:
Village of Cold Spring homeowners, with the 5th Annual Cold Spring by Candlelight Tour behind us, it's already time to start thinking about the 2008 event.
As many of you remember, the first event in 2003 was snowed out, with a record 18 inches of snow, which kept our well-planned event from happening. That was the first (and last year) the event was held in the first weekend of December.
While the last four tours have gone very well for PARC, the homeowners involved, and the merchants and restaurant owners in town, who all report records sales during the tour, it is time to change the event a bit. In 2008, we will move the Cold Spring by Candlelight Tour back to the first Saturday of December, which is Saturday, December 6, 2008.
Many homeowners have expressed interest in being on the tour, but that the Thanksgiving weekend is just too busy with out of town guests, that it's too difficult to dress your homes in time for the tour, or that you and your families are out of town for the holiday weekend. We hope that the change in dates will allow for more homeowners to be a part of this memorable holiday event, which is a tremendous benefit to PARC and our 650 children and adults with developmental disabilities.
And we will continue to work on wonderful incentives for our homeowners. As in recent years, homeowners will receive a gift certificate to dine out in the village or an area restaurant right after the tour (we think that the last you want to do is cook, so we arrange for someone to cook for you and wait on you!). And this year's tour again featured a vote for the best house, as selected by our event attendees. This year's prize for the best house on the tour was an all-inclusive trip for two to St. Lucia's Body Holiday Spa Resort.
PARC is committed to hosting this event for many years to come and we hope that the date change will allow you and your family to be a part of this wonderful kick off to the holiday season.
Please let me know your thoughts by phone (845-278- 7272, ext. 287) or by email rand_otten@putnamarc.org. I will look forward to hearing from you.
