Assemblywoman Galef Out of Touch With Seniors Dear Editor:
On October 24, Assemblywoman Galef voted against an amendment to double the property tax rebate check for senior citizens this year.
Doesn't Assemblywoman Galef know that many of our seniors are on fixed incomes and that many have to make tough choices on what they can afford?
With the burden of high property taxes and increasing expenses, many of the seniors in our community cannot afford to live in our community anymore. It is shameful that the people who have given so much and have raised their families here in our community are being forced out.
Someone should look out for them. I am sad to say that our assemblywoman, Sandra Galef, does not care enough to do this small thing for the benefit of the older members of our community.
It is time for a change in Albany. It is time for a representative who represents all citizens in his or her district, not just a privileged few. We need someone in office who will fulfill promises made. By voting against the amendment, Sandra Galef has clearly shown that she does not have a handle on the real issues that affect the daily lives of the people who live in her district.
