| Kindergarten students at Putnam Valley Elementary School (PVES) began celebrating Thanksgiving a little bit early this year. On November 20, students from the Morning and Afternoon classes performed two shows entitled A Time for Thanks. The program was produced and directed by new PVES music teacher Madeline Calhoun, with help from teachers, classroom assistants, parents, and administrators.
The students' family members and friends gathered early to get good seats for photographing and videotaping the event, as the excited children lined up in the hallway outside the auditorium wearing their dress-up clothes and hand-made Thanksgiving medallions. They processed into the room with music playing and a multimedia presentation projected on a screen near the performance area. After the Pledge of Allegiance and My Country 'Tis of Thee the program began with words of welcome. Songs included What a Wonderful World, Thanks-A-Lot, and Over the River. Following the program, children and families returned to their classrooms for special celebrations.
