Bill Gouldman Elected Next Putnam Valley GOP Chairman
William Gouldman was unanimously elected as the Putnam Valley GOP Vice Chair, on December 6, 2007 before a gathering of party faithful, at a meeting in Putnam Valley. Current Chairman Henry Lopez stepped down and submitted his resignation as of January 1, 2008 in order to pursue other career interests. At that time he will pass the reins on to the new Chair.
Gouldman said he is honored to have the support of the Republicans in Putnam Valley. "We worked closely together and had a very rewarding election this year. We have a lot of work ahead of us to ensure a successful election in 2008. Together we can accomplish a great deal."
Last month, the Putnam Valley GOP successfully took back the majority on the Town Board from the Democratic Party. The GOP won the races for Town Supervisor, Town Clerk, Town Justice, Town Highway Superintendent and two Town Council seats. The above candidates ran on the Republican, Conservative and Independent lines.
Outgoing chair, Henry Lopez, said that Mr. Gouldman is an asset to the GOP in Putnam Valley and Putnam County. "He has a bright future in our party. I have a lot of confidence in Bill's ability to keep the Republican Party a strong and vibrant majority in Putnam County and look forward to watching him blossom into this position. He was very helpful in this year's election swept. He has the political savvy to succeed as the chair."
