Mount Gulian Historic Site Celebrates Holiday Traditions with Candlelight Tour

Mount Gulian Historic Site, the Dutch Colonial home of the Verplanck family and Revolutionary War Headquarters of General von Steuben, will hold its Candlelight Tour on Sunday, December 16 from 4 to 7pm.

Many Verplanck family traditions will be followed in decorating the homestead which will reflect different styles. The dining room will be adorned in Victorian fashion; the Cincinnati room with the more modest Colonial era embellishments of greens and fruits; and the décor of the General Von Steuben room will be red, white and blue. Each room, of course, will be lit by candlelight.

Between 5:30 and 6:30pm visitors will delight in the storytelling of Lorraine Hartin Gelardi. Ms. Hartin Gelardi, an accomplished storyteller, charms her audiences of adults and children with her tales and imagery.

Holiday refreshments will be served and the gift shop will be open for last minute shopping.

Admission is $8 adults; $6 seniors; $5 children; $5 Mount Gulian members. Membership is open to the public. Reservations are not required. For further information call 831-8172.
