DWI Charges Lodged Against Putnam Valley Man After Crash
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man after an accident investigation by Sheriff's Deputies revealed he had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Sheriff, on November 29, 2007 at about 10:30am Deputy Jason Wollman responded to a report of a car into the woods off Minor Road in the Town of Southeast. Upon his arrival the deputy determined that the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and drove on top of a rock wall where the vehicle became lodged. After interviewing the uninjured driver and administering several field sobriety examinations Deputy Wollman took the driver into custody.
David P. Olenski, 31, of Putnam Valley was transported to the Sheriff's Department headquarters in Carmel for processing and subsequently charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated. The defendant was released on his own recognizance pending future appearances before the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
If convicted of the charge the defendant faces penalties of up to $1,000.00 in fines and or no more than 1 year in jail.
